Capital Hearts For Japan
Just after the tsunami in Japan on March 11, 2011 30 DC-based organization sprung into action to organize the Capital Hearts for Japan in an effort to raise money for displaced persons. I was asked to capture the evening on video and this is the final piece.
Greenbelt Patch
During my time as editor for Greenbelt Patch, I had the opportunity to shoot and edit several videos. Below are a few of my favorites.
Westboro Baptist Church Protest
The Westboro Baptist Church made an appearance at a local high school. We spent the morning speaking with them and listening to their message, as well as covering the counter-protest across the street at the high school.
Pope Preps For Oktoberfest
This is one of my favorite videos from my time at Greenbelt Patch. Councilwoman Silke Pope is the chef behind all of the food preparations for Saint Hugh’s Catholic Church’s annual Okroberfest celebration. Pope is orginally from Germany, so all of the sauerkraut and sausages were delicious and authentic.
Hyattsville Patch
When I was still gathering information to launch Greenbelt Patch, I volunteered to produce a video for Hyattsville Patch about Hyattsville police department’s agility test for new officers.
PatchCast
I also had the opportunity to produce a daily regional news video for the Prince George’s County Patches. I really enjoyed compiling, editing and writing the voiceover for each piece.
Ohio University
In the Spring of 2008, I participated in an online journalism class focusing on web video production. The only equipment used were our own personal digital cameras (point-and-shoots, not video cameras) and editing on iMovie in the library, truly representative of working with what you have in the field.
Art Show Opening:
This is my first video attempt, it was shot at night in the tiny Bagel Street Deli in Athens, Ohio on Ohio University’s campus. It was a show for the artwork of seniors Mehri Davis and Mark Reamy, the two artists and several students comment on the event.
Nicole Bryant:
This is profile piece about a senior dance student balancing her final classes with teaching and choreographing her senior dance piece.
